organisation of this blog

Since I didn't receive a single comment about the organisation of this blog I'm going to assume either that no one reads it or that you're all happy clams, and I'll keep things the way they are for now. i.e.

  • a link to the paper or abstract in the post title.
  • one link per post.
  • some general keywords to make searching the blog site easier.
  • archives by month will show up with a list of post titles.
  • a comment if the link goes to an abstract only or if the article requires subscriber access.

HRELP - Language Documentation and Description Volume 2

This book is not technically about Australian languages but is relevant, and should be a great read.

The second volume of ELAP's Working Papers, Language Documentation and Description (Peter Austin ed.) will be available from March 2005 and can be ordered now.

The volume is a collection of papers dealing with three topics in language documentation:

* training and capacity building for endangered languages communities
* archiving
* multimedia documentation

Most of the papers arose from workshops held at SOAS in November 2003 and February 2004. They represent important contributions to the theory and practice of the new field of language documentation by some of the leading scholars in the field, along with contributions from younger researchers. The volume will be of interest to anyone concerned with documenting and describing languages.

What this blog is.

I'll post links/titles about all papers I hear about to do with Australian languages. I watch all the major journals and the websites in the link bar, but do email me at anggarrgoon's gmail account if there's anything I should add. Let me know too if you'd like your site added to the list.
